First Twitter, Now Blogdom!!

With Prof. Mike Codella's blessing, I, John "Big John" Norman, started this blog as a unofficial academy resource. My intent is to provide a means to let the members 'shine' by posting competition videos, interviewing our senior belts, as well as showcasing the kid's classes and the hardcore Monkey Bar Gym crew!! I hope to add videos of techniques taught in our classes, post tournament info and results, seminars, etc.
Feel free to catch me in the morning classes or contact me via email at jaystorm15@yahoo.com if you have any suggestions or content you would like for me to add to the blog. Looking forward to all comments, good or ...constructive!!  :)   Peace!

  1. That's great. For those people reading this Blog who have never been to Codella Academy check it out. Professional and expert trainers as well as respectful members are the first thing I noticed when my son joined the teen class. As a parent I am extremely pleased with the results. My son's learning BJJ from great practitioners. As for myself I cannot wait to join. Good luck to those members with upcoming fights. Thanks Prof. Mike for bringing Gracie BJJ to the island.

  3. I'd like to use this opportunity to thank Big John for taking the time out of his busy schedule in order to allow members of Codella Academy / Team Renzo, and the BJJ/MMA comunity in general to have a place where we can meet, share ideas, communicate, and spread the passion we all have for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As we have all learned over the years, wherever there is a Team Renzo Academy, or a true BJJ school, good things happen for both the community at large, and its Academy members. With our Academy specifically, we are fortunate to have a Team of the toughest, most knowledgeable, and yet good spirited members anywhere on Staten Island, and in fact anywhere to be found. Now, more then ever, with the increase of so called "MMA and BJJ/ Gracie Schools" popping up everywhere, it is more important then ever to maintain our Authentic Renzo Gracie lineage, train and fight in a fashion that exudes the meaning of Warrior Spirit, and realize that Jiu Jitsu is more then training on mats, but also a way of life. In conclusion, I just want to thank everyone that realizes that a true Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team prides itself on its attention to details in both the way we preform techniques, and in the way we accept and teach new Team/Academy members. It is with great honor and humility that now through this blog, we can demonstrate the Team Codella / Team Renzo way.

  4. Prof. Mike, Mr. Ramos, and Karate/Kimura Mike :)
thank you all for your comments. I hope to do the academy proud by capturing the essence of the hard work that's put in by the collective membership as well as the camaraderie that is forged in sweat and hysterical laughter!! We have been blessed with some characters!! But that's what a fighting family is all about!!
